Mark W. Bowman, Esq.
Mark Bowman founded Bowman Ecker in 2009. Mark has been representing tenants in the real estate industry for more than 30 years and has expertise in full spectrum real estate integration, corporate services, strategic planning, real estate portfolio consulting and transaction services.
Mark started his career as an attorney for the General Counsel of Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago where he worked on real estate, finance, legislative, and corporate matters. Mark joined Howard Ecker + Company in Chicago in 1988 to represent corporate tenants in office and industrial lease transactions, purchase and sale of commercial buildings, and corporate build-to-suit projects. Shortly after joining the firm, Mark was placed in charge of managing Ecker's national brokerage accounts.
In 1991, Mark co-founded National Facilities Group, Inc. ("NFG"), a real estate and technology consulting firm specializing in strategic real estate planning and automation of the lease administration function for major national and multinational corporations. As Chief Operating Officer of NFG, Mark grew the company to become one of the most respected real estate and technology firms in the marketplace. NFG utilized its industry leading proprietary software system called SLIM – Strategic Lease Information Management – to automate the corporate real estate departments of more than 125 Fortune 1000 corporations.
Mark and his partners sold NFG to Los Angeles based Accruent, Inc. in 2004 and joined Accruent to integrate the companies and provide executive level consulting services to Accruent and NFG clients. In 2008, Mark established a Michigan real estate consulting and brokerage firm specializing in tenant based services and later aligned the company with Chicago-based Howard Ecker + Company to create Bowman Ecker.
Mark graduated from Michigan State University in 1982 with a degree in Political Science/Pre-Law and studied at the University of London in England in 1981. Mark obtained a law degree from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1985 and is a licensed attorney and real estate broker in several states.

Howard Ecker founded Howard Ecker + Company in 1975 as the first company in Chicago devoted exclusively to representing tenants. Howard works with business leaders to align office location thinking with the long term fiscal and cultural needs of their business, connecting the worth of the company to its brand, culture and environment. During his tenure, Howard has completed lease transactions in virtually every state in the country. Other achievements include successfully negotiating a built-to-suit space for the Shure Brothers corporate headquarters, securing 200,000 square feet in two leases for his client BDO in Midtown Manhattan.
Howard started his career at Cushman & Wakefield working as the original leasing agent for the John Hancock Center during its initial construction. He then joined Arthur Rubloff & Company where he became the head of the office leasing department and the youngest member of the Board of Directors. While there, Howard worked on large-scale projects including the development and leasing of the Time Life Building, Commerce Plaza in Oak Brook and First National Bank of Dayton.
Howard is a member of the Board of Directors for Chicago’s Adler Planetarium. Howard graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian History and attended DePaul Law School. Howard lives in Lincoln Park with Janet Ecker and has identical twin daughters who work at Howard Ecker + Company.
